Ex-employees say salaries from events company delayed for three months, TADM assisting
Three former employees of a Singapore events management company told Town Tales Pro they have not received salaries since May, despite repeated promises from management that payments would be made "by end of month."
The contributors, who asked to remain anonymous because they are still negotiating with the company, said a total of at least eleven staff members are affected. They estimate unpaid wages across the group exceed $80,000.
"We loved the work — weddings, corporate galas, product launches," one contributor said. "But you cannot eat passion. My rent is overdue. Two colleagues have already taken on delivery jobs at night to cover bills."
Internal email cites cash flow
The contributors shared a redacted internal email from the company director dated 14 August, which Town Tales Pro has reviewed. The email acknowledges delayed payments and cites "temporary cash flow challenges following the loss of two major contracts in Q2."
The email proposed a staggered repayment plan over six months, starting in September. Several employees rejected the proposal and filed complaints with the Tripartite Alliance for Dispute Management (TADM), which confirmed to one contributor that mediation has been scheduled.
What employees can do
Under the Employment Act, employers must pay salaries within seven days of the end of the salary period. Failure to do so may constitute a salary-related offence. TADM offers free mediation services for employment disputes, and unresolved cases may be referred to the Employment Claims Tribunal.
Town Tales Pro contacted the company director for comment via the email address listed on their website. No response was received at the time of publication. We will update this article if the company responds.
