Why Town Tales Pro exists
Not a forum. Not a newspaper. Something in between.
Singapore has no shortage of places to vent — Telegram channels, Facebook groups, comment sections that never sleep. But those spaces are ephemeral. A rant disappears under the next viral clip within minutes. What residents often want is a permanent record of what happened on their block, at their bus interchange, outside their favourite zi char stall — told with enough detail that strangers across the island can picture the scene.
Town Tales Pro was built for exactly that gap. We are not a discussion board where threads spiral into unrelated arguments. We are not a mainstream newsroom chasing press conferences. We are a curated publication that treats community-submitted eyewitness accounts with editorial seriousness: fact-checking where possible, redacting personal identifiers, and rewriting submissions into clear narratives that read like the citizen journalism Singapore already consumes on social media — except here, the stories stay searchable, accessible, and accountable.
Our editorial office sits along Joo Chiat Road, a stretch of the city where old shophouses sit beside new cafes and where neighbours still swap stories over kopi at the same tables their parents used. That location is deliberate. We wanted to be rooted in a real neighbourhood, not a faceless server farm, because the credibility of community storytelling depends on proximity to the people who live these tales every day.
Every story on this site passes through a human editor before publication. We verify that submitters were present or have direct knowledge of the incident. We remove names, unit numbers, and licence plates unless the subject is a public figure or the information is already in the public domain. We do not publish rumours presented as fact, and we clearly label opinion pieces when a contributor is interpreting events rather than describing them.
